Bannon Indicted

As it turns out you can not be federally indicted for being a fat lying SOB in need of a shave. But you can be federally indicted for contempt of Congress.
Ignoring Congressional subpoenas just because you feel like doing so is not actually something that you can legally do.
This is something that apparently came as a surprise to Trump supporter Steve Bannon. Live and learn I guess.
WASHINGTON — Stephen K. Bannon, a onetime senior aide to former President Donald J. Trump, was indicted by a federal grand jury on Friday on two counts of contempt of Congress, after his refusal to provide information to the House committee investigating the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol.

Mr. Bannon, 67, had declined last month to comply with subpoenas from the committee seeking testimony and documents from him. The House then voted to hold Mr. Bannon in criminal contempt of Congress.
After holding Mr. Bannon in contempt, the House referred the matter to the U.S. attorney’s office in Washington for a decision on whether to prosecute him.
I think that it's important for any institution or individual to be able to back up what they say. Indicting someone who obstructs a Congressional investigation is an important step in doing that. It's also a very small step in bringing some accountability to those who planned the attempted January 6 coup.
