In honor of the release (TODAY) of "TOP FIVE" written and directed by Chris Rock, let's discuss your TOP FIVE.
First watch this fun roundtable where Chris Rock, Rosario Dawson, Angie Martinez, Ed Lover, Miss info, Jayson Rodriguez, Datwon, and Shaheem Reid discuss and defend their TOP FIVE list of greatest rappers ever.
I attended a screening last evening and I must say the film was very funny. I can't give too many details away because I don't want to ruin the film for anyone. There are a slew of cameo's in this film. Think Woody Allen cameo type movies on steroids. However, Chris doesn't reveal all the cameos in the film's trailer. Classic New York City film with a lot of political and poignant subliminal messaging to the Hollywood execs who refuse to green light quality films with a majority black cast.
This bidding war and final $12.5M price tag paid by Paramount at this year's Toronto Film Festival, make this film historical. Produced with very little money and resources, everyone involved (including Jay-Z and Kanye West who served as Co-Producers) stands to make a substantial amount of money back.
Definitely go support this man and help the film pull into the #1 spot this weekend.
What is your "TOP FIVE" list of greatest rappers, dead or alive?
