Now, if you'd just give me one moment to rant...these were my firsts thoughts after reading some articles on "bad food"...
What is the meaning of life...without good food???
Or, more specifically: Is a life without the things you enjoy a life worth living? I don't know? And, as much as I'd like to be, I'm really not that profound. I just REALLY love food. I really do!!! So few pleasures in life, and of those, most are bad for you. Why is that? I give up! It's over. Of course, like most, I think living longer is a good thing. But, if I can't even have a steak - medium rare with extra char - then, is it worth it?
Look, we've always know that red meat is the "Keyser Söze" of the food group. Red meat plays nice during picnics, cookouts, family reunions, etc., but will kill you faster than "favor" and as any fan of Carlito can tell you, "favor gonna kill you faster than a bullet."
Not only red meat, but hot dogs and... 'scuse me for a movement... and bbb...b...b...bacon (Janitor - mmmy mmmy watch - sorry, inside joke)! Guilty pleasure much? Um, YES! To me, bacon is one of the two food groups. The first is bacon, and the second is... EVERYTHING ELSE. Sorry Jules, I know you think pigs are filthy animals, but I'm with Vincent on this one, "Bacon tastes goooood. Pork chops taste gooood." Sometimes, bacon just makes it better.... I went to a restaurant with steak AND shrimp wrapped in bacon on the menu... made that restaurant part of my rotation. You come to visit me, you will be sitting at a table at Roy's Hawaiian Fusion before you leave. Alas I know it is not good for me. Bacon, like red meat and hot dogs more often than not, leads to type 2 diabetes.
The Black community is acutely aware of the complications due to diabetes - also known as "The Shuga." According to the American Diabetes Association, compared to the general population, African Americans are disproportionately affected by The Shuga:
- 4.9 million, or 18.7 percent of all African Americans aged 20 years or older have diabetes.
- African Americans are 1.8 times more likely to have diabetes as non Hispanic whites.
Basically, it's real!!! When it comes to death, it don't get no realer (I know).
But, here's the thing. If EVERYTHING is bad, then does it much matter? Red meat, sugar, salt, everything.... everything is bad. Hell, even too much lemon, a salt substitute, can rot your teeth or lead to ulcers. Are we really meant to live out our days on nothing but bread and water? Oh wait, that's right...
"Bread makes you fat?!?!?!"
What has the world come too? Hide yo kids! Hide yo wife!!!
cigarettes! Seriously??? No bacon or toast for breakfast, and now you want the eggs to? Where is Calgon to take these assholes away!
But the centerpiece of this wedding from hell is that now I'm hearing bananas are bad for you! There as bad as cookies or French Fries!!! What? FRUIT? Bananas??? Is this a race thing? Pissed about immigration legislation? What is it then???
overdo it; don't be a glutton. But, if you leave it to the "experts" you will drive yourself INSANE. One minute it's bad, the next it's good. When you put a spotlight on ANYTHING, I'm sure you can find something negative about it. Hell, if someone can die from too much water, then nothing's safe.
Well, at least we have chocolate and red wine; they're both back on Santa's good list.
I'll end with wise words from The Great Chris Rock:
People are starving all over the world, what do you mean "red meat'll kill you?" Don't eat no red meat? No, don't eat no GREEN meat... if you're one of the chosen few people in the world lucky enough to get your hands on a steak, bite the shit out of it!"Thanks for listening to my rant! Now, back to politics a usual. Fed_UP!
