Allen West Takes Coonin' to a Whole New Level (VIDEO)

I've got just two words for Florida Tea Party Congressman Allen West:  "Whatchutalkinbout Willis!?!?!?"  Now I'm all for free speech, and certainly we all understand that within the world of politics we must come to accept and allow a certain level of spin and hyperbole, but this negro just might have lost his natural mind on this one.

But before we turn to Uncle Ruckus and his perpetual 1985 high-top fade, let's make sure we have a firm understanding of what "Cooning" means.  Pursuant to the authoritative Urban Dictionary:
Cooning: Cooning is a verb derived from the word coon. A coon was/is a person of African decent whose sole purpose was/is to entertain white people. These 'coons' started out as wearing black face, characterized by having big eyes and painting big red lips on their face. These people would tap dance, play instruments and sing. Modern day coons are blacks who play stereotypical roles and black entertainers that promote ignorance. Cooning is someone is acting like a 'coon'.
Now that we've gotten that out of the way, enter the Tea Party's favorite coon, Allen West.

I'm not even going to provide a lead-in to these comments. Allen West, ladies and gentlemen:

"So you have this 21st Century plantation ... where the Democrat party has forever taken the black vote for granted, and you have established certain black leaders who are nothing more than the overseers of that plantation...and now the people on that plantation are upset because they’ve been disregarded, disrespected and their concerns are not cared I’m here as the modern day Harriet Tubman to kind of lead people on the Underground Railroad away from that plantation into a sense of sensibility...What you end up having -- I’m going to be brutally honest -- is that white liberals have turned over to certain leaders or ‘perceived leaders’ in the black community, like a Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton or Maxine Waters or Barbara Lee, and said, you know, pacify and keep the black community firmly behind us, regardless of the failures of our social welfare policies...That’s the absence of this ‘leadership’ in the black community, which as I say are nothing more than overseers of this 21st century plantation."
So let me see if I have this straight...Allen West, a proud and prominent freshman member of the Republican Tea Party - a party which has manifested in unequivocal terms its racially motivated dislike of America's first Black President - is now the vanguard of what's best for the Black Community...and the people who actually acknowledge that racism still exists in 2011 are the bad guys???  Does that about sum it up?

Look, the Democrats may be guilty of taking the Black vote for granted, but there's a huge and unmistakable difference about which side of the fence they are on when it comes to issues of race and actually lifting a finger to help the Black Community.  In what universe can you consider yourself the "Harriet Tubman" of today's Black Community when your answer to all of the problems facing the Black Community is literally to do nothing (ie. "lift yourselves up by your bootstraps")?  Harriet Tubman is rolling over in her grave right now.  Imagine if she had gone back down south and told the slaves "even though I'm in a position to help you, I can't show you guys how to get up North because that will make you guys into a bunch of pacified dependents. Sorry.  Find your own way to freedom."

You see, Mr. West, the fundamental difference between you and Harriet Tubman is that Harriet Tubman actually CARED about HELPING the Black Community, whereas you believe firmly that Black Community should help itself.  And that's assuming that, as a threshold matter, you don't simply see everybody as individuals who just so happen to be Black.  But I digress.

The fact remains that the policies of your chosen team are antithetical to the policies of what Harriet Tubman believed in because she believed that we all had a responsibility to help our fellow brothers and sisters in need.  Your team looks down on such activity and calls it a "handout."   Harriet Tubman escaped slavery, became a free woman, and instead of enjoying her new found freedom, she went back down South to help others become free.  Your team won't even get off the couch to give unemployment checks to people who have lost their jobs.  And you knew that your team was like this before you joined them and you chose them anyway.  You, sir, are no Harriet Tubman.

1. Is Allen West guilty of coonin on Fox News?
2. Does he have anything in common with Harriet Tubman?
3. Does Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security, Unemployment Insurance, etc. make people lazy and dependent?
4. Are the Democrats "pacifying" the Black Community with government social programs?
5. Is the "boostraps" approach better for the Black Community?
